Fashion photography

Cecil Beaton
Was a famous fashion photographer for the magazine called Vogue,
He specilised in portrait photography when he was a boy, he took photos for his family and neighbours.
As he grew older he sent of pictures in to the Vogue magazine and then was pronounced as a fashion photographer, as he was a fashion photographer his portriat photography had finished and then he started to stage the photos, he got so into the staging the photos he relised that portrait photos had no use.

Portrait photography
portrait photography started of with art and paintings this was the modern way in the vicorian times, but as soon the camera came out the portrait pictures changed for the better, there was no need to have a painting you could now take a picture and then print it, then you have a self portrait, this was the mos modern way and then up to date you got colour photos and that opened new doors to portrait photography.

Staged Photography
Staged photography had over taken portrait photography because not only do you have a photo of you're self, you have a staged backgroud to suit the photos theme and the set the mood. this had also ghanged over the ear because of the fashion photography and all the magazine that involve fashion are all staged to show off the clothing or the hair style.

When is an image a Portrait when is it a fashion photograph?

An image is a portrait when it is just a painted picture of the person not posing, probaly smiling, Or there is a family portrait. But when its a photography it is when you have taken a photo of what ever you have taken such as a staged photo or a landscape photo, you can have a portrait photo this is classed as a portrait photo but done via photograph and is the cheapest and best way to get a self portrait.
